Eye Cancer Claims
Eye cancer or ocular cancer is a term that incorporates several different cancer types. The type of eye cancer depends on the type of cell that it starts in.
Some different ocular cancers include lymphoma of the eye and melanoma of the eye. Eye cancer is more common in older people save for retinoblastoma which usually affects children under 5 years old.
There are not always obvious symptoms of eye cancer and it is most likely to be picked up during a routine eye test. Possible symptoms include bulging of one eye, complete or partial loss of sight, blurred vision, eye irritation or chronic conjunctivitis.
If there is a failure by an optometrist to pick up on the indications of cancer on an eye test then there may be a legal claim if the cancer is more difficult to treat or there has been an impact on survival prospects as a result of the delay in diagnosis. Short delays may not be sufficient to show that the outcome was affected.
Legal claims can also arise if other medical professionals, such as a GP, do not act upon symptoms suggestive of eye cancer and make a suitable referral. Errors might also occur during eye cancer treatment, such as surgical errors, that can lead to an injury for which compensation can be claimed.

Can my attorney just do what they like with my money?
You can only make an LPA while you have mental capacity so it is a good idea to think about it early, even if you are young and healthy. The chances are that you wonāt need it for a long time and maybe not at all. However, if something unexpected happens, for example if you are in an accident, then having an LPA in place will be one less thing for your loved ones to worry about.
If you make an LPA now and change your mind about who your attorneys should be, then you can always make a new one later.
