Ruptured Biceps Tendon Claims
The biceps muscle is the large muscle in front of the upper arm, extending from the shoulder to the elbow.
It bends the elbow and twists the forearm. The biceps tendon connects the biceps muscle to the radius bone, which is a bone in the forearm. The tendon can rupture. The injury is typically seen when the muscle is subject to a large force, for example when someone is trying to lift a heavy object.
Some patients report a pop in the elbow accompanied by intense pain, warmth and bruising and swelling on the front of the upper arm. Many patients attend hospital thinking that they have suffered a broken bone. Surgery can be undertaken to repair the tendon but there is a limited window of up to 4 to 6 weeksĀ in which an effective primary repair can be undertaken.
A ruptured bicep tendon is an injury which can be misdiagnosed leading to a delay in correct diagnosis and as a result, long term problems where the opportunity to repair the tendon has been missed.
Alternatively, there can be a delay in the referral process, meaning that the patient is not seen at a fracture clinic until well outside the 4-6 week repair window.
If diagnosed and operated upon quickly the prognosis is excellent with patients returning to their normal level of function very quickly.
Other cases we have acted in have involved nerve injuries or vascular injuries being sustained during the operation itself including injuries toĀ the radial nerve or the brachial artery.
If you or a family member has suffered as a result of a delay in diagnosing and treating a ruptured biceps tendon, we can support you through the process of bringing a claim for compensation.Ā Please contact us to discuss how we can help.

Can my attorney just do what they like with my money?
You can only make an LPA while you have mental capacity so it is a good idea to think about it early, even if you are young and healthy. The chances are that you wonāt need it for a long time and maybe not at all. However, if something unexpected happens, for example if you are in an accident, then having an LPA in place will be one less thing for your loved ones to worry about.
If you make an LPA now and change your mind about who your attorneys should be, then you can always make a new one later.
