Encephalitis Claims
Encephalitis is a swelling of the brain often caused by infection. It can be life threatening and lead to serious brain damage.
It is estimated that there are some 6,000 cases each year in the UK. If encephalitis is not identified or treated early enough, or other avoidable errors are made, then there may be a claim for medical negligence.
Our highly experienced team are specialists in dealing with encephalitis and other infection claims and will provide a sensitive, supportive service throughout a case.
Unfortunately, encephalitis can permanently damage the brain and those who survive severe cases can be left with long term problems such a blindness, memory loss, issues with swallowing, seizures, persistent tiredness and hearing loss.
Encephalitis Compensation
Encephalitis compensation can be obtained in successful cases to improve quality of life and ensure that the injured persons needs are met such as ongoing care, specialist treatment, new or adapted accommodation, equipment and other therapies.
The amount of compensation will vary from case to case and will depend on the severity of injury and other factors such as whether there are lost earnings.
We will advise upon options to seek funds for early interventions and rehabilitation not available on the NHS where possible. Recovering from encephalitis can be a slow and difficult process and we know that specialist rehabilitation services being accessed as quickly as possible can make a real difference.
If you or a family member has suffered as a result of failures in the treatment of encephalitis, we can support you through the process of bringing a claim for compensation. Where you have lost a loved one, we can also assist in bringing a compensation claim for the dependents of the person who has died.Ā Please contact us to discuss how we can help.

Can my attorney just do what they like with my money?
You can only make an LPA while you have mental capacity so it is a good idea to think about it early, even if you are young and healthy. The chances are that you wonāt need it for a long time and maybe not at all. However, if something unexpected happens, for example if you are in an accident, then having an LPA in place will be one less thing for your loved ones to worry about.
If you make an LPA now and change your mind about who your attorneys should be, then you can always make a new one later.
