Financial Arrangements
Our team of family lawyers has considerable experience of farming divorces and the difficulties these cases can present
Our lawyers are highly regarded for their ability to give practical and clear advice on the financial implications of relationship breakdown or at the start of the relationship where a pre-marital or cohabitation agreement is being considered. We have many years’ trusted experience of supporting our clients through complex financial disputes, putting our clients’ interests first and working hard to secure the best outcome. Our lawyers are recognised by the legal directories as leaders in their field.
The majority of divorces and separations involve consideration of the family’s financial arrangements (including the family home, division of pensions, payment of maintenance and family owned businesses).
We work with clients from all walks of life. We represent clients (or their partners) facing relationship breakdown who are successful entrepreneurs, high net worth individuals or professionals. Many of our clients have an international connection; they come from other countries and have assets, businesses or income abroad. If you have international connections, we can quickly arrange advice on the impact of the laws of other countries.
We also assist clients who seek advice prior to marriage or cohabitation who wish to male financial arrangements to protect them in case of a future separation.
If you believe your spouse or partner has disposed (or intends to dispose) of assets without your agreement, we can make emergency applications to a court to protect your position, whether those assets have been disposed of in this country or abroad. We can also assist if there is an order against you preventing you from disposing of your assets.
Our legal advice will be given hand in hand with the tax expertise of our Private Client team and, if necessary, we will call upon the services of trusted accountants, financial and pensions advisers.
We have equal expertise in litigation and in non-court methods of resolving a financial dispute, including mediation, collaborative law and arbitration. We will spend time understanding your goals and priorities so that we can achieve the best outcome for you and your family.
