Prescription Error Claims
Errors in the prescription of medications can be serious. Unfortunately, prescription errors are not unusual.
It is estimated that around 237 million medication errors occur in the NHS in England every year.
If the wrong medication or wrong dose is prescribed this can lead to patients not getting the treatment they need, having their condition exacerbated, suffering allergic reactions and in some instances, death. In these circumstances, there may be a claim for medical negligence.Ā Mistakes may be made by the medical professional who prescribes the medication (such as a GP or hospital doctor) or by the pharmacist who dispenses it. Errors can for example occur by the wrong label being put on the wrong bottle at the pharmacy or by medication being placed in the wrong bag.
Claims may also arise where there is no medication review for a long period and a repeat prescription continues to be provided when it is not needed – leading to serious side effects.

Can my attorney just do what they like with my money?
You can only make an LPA while you have mental capacity so it is a good idea to think about it early, even if you are young and healthy. The chances are that you wonāt need it for a long time and maybe not at all. However, if something unexpected happens, for example if you are in an accident, then having an LPA in place will be one less thing for your loved ones to worry about.
If you make an LPA now and change your mind about who your attorneys should be, then you can always make a new one later.
