James Bell meets Paul Whiteing: Part 1 - The Duty of Candour

James Bell recently met with Paul Whiteing, the Chief Executive of charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA), to discuss a series of topics around clinical negligence and patient rights. The first issue they considered was the duty of candour of medical practitioners and NHS Trusts and how this is working. James and Paul provide their insights in to how the processes surrounding the duty of candour could be improved including the need for meaningful apologies and more openness and early sharing of documents.
