Tier 1 (Post Study Work) Route

The government is currently consulting on changes to the student visa system and is considering abolishing the Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) category. The public consultation will run until Monday 31 January 2011.

The Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) route is regularly used by sponsoring employers to recruit the most able international graduates who have studied in the UK.

If your business is concerned about the possible abolition of the Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) route and the impact it could have on your recruitment programme please follow these simple steps to get your views heard:

  1. Click here to open 'The Student Immigration System Consultation Response Pro-Forma' (read-only pdf);
  2. Print and complete the Pro-Forma – question 9 relates to Tier 1 (Post-Study Work);
  3. Submit the Pro-Forma by scanning and emailing to Studentconsultation@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk or by post to Student Consultation, 1st Floor, Green Park House, 29 Wellesley Road, Croydon, CR0 2AJ

Please note, it is also possible to respond online however there is no open-ended comment box for the Tier 1 (Post-Study Work) question (question 10 in section C). Click here to respond online.

The deadline is midnight on Monday 31 January 2011.

The Business Immigration Team at Kingsley Napley will continue to have significant high-level input to the UK Border Agency's policy formulation. Please contact a member of the team if you have any questions on the proposals and how they may affect your business.
