Sexual impropriety cases at risk- Iain Miller quoted in The Times

Iain Miller, a Partner in our regulatory team, shares his specialist knowledge with The Times on the topic of sexual impropriety. In particular the topic discussed is focused on the recent judgement of the Ryan Beckwith case, where a former magic circle partner was investigated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Iain shares his thoughts on if the result is likely to cause the SRA to rethink policy.
Iain is quoted:

“The Beckwith ruling is unlikely to change the SRA’s view that it has a leading role to play in dealing with sexual misconduct in law firms”

“Miller acknowledges that subject to any appeal, the case will undoubtedly impact on which cases the SRA chooses to prosecute and how allegations are drafted. Rather than just focusing on the individual involved, it may also cause the SRA to look more at the role of firms as they are also regulated by the SRA.”
