Metropolitan Police steps up investigations into historic abuse cases

With the media spotlight firmly on establishment figures and high profile individuals, the Metropolitan Police announced last week that it has set up a new team to investigate historic child abuse cases.

It is reported that this team will be comprised of 90 officers and staff who will handle 29 separate allegations of police corruption in the handling of child abuse claims.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said that:  "The Metropolitan Police Service is in the process of establishing a specific team in response to the combined demands of the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse led by Justice Goddard, the investigations following our referrals to the IPCC and the on-going related criminal investigations relating to Operations Fairbank and Yewtree.”

Don’t wait for the police to contact you.
