Disciplinary hearings rise 40 per cent in five years – Iain Miller quoted in The Times

Iain Miller, Partner in our Regulatory team was quoted in an online article in The Times, published on 11 June 2019.

Disciplinary hearings rise 40 per cent in five years.

Within the article, Iain agreed that the SRA was moving into territory that it would not have looked at in the past, particularly at allegations relating to sexual misconduct and social media activity.

Iain states:

there were other areas that the SRA had become less vigorous in pursuing, such a historical client balances.

My sense is that there is not a lot more activity, it is rather that the SRA is moving the goal posts in relation to the matters that it is interested in.
