Breaking Boundaries – the sequel

I recently attended CCMS’ second Breaking Boundaries conference.  This was once again an awe inspiring day filled with videos and presentations featuring the achievements and experiences of people with life altering brain and spinal injuries.  A link to the YouTube video of the inaugural conference can be found below.

We were treated to fantastic footage of children and adults with cerebral palsy and other brain injuries experiencing their first tastes of Alpine air and skiing with the support of CCMS and Ski2Freedom.  We were also introduced to adaptive motorcycling and saw brain and spinally injured adults taking to the track on specially adapted motorbikes with the aid of The Bike Experience.

The focus of the second half of the day was on the effect of life altering injuries on families and relationships.

The Breaking Boundaries conference was a salient reminder of why we fight so hard to obtain compensation for our clients; skiing or motorbike racing may not appeal to everyone, but it is worth remembering that such opportunities do exist, even for the most severely disabled, and compensation can assist in accessing those opportunities.
