Employment law update: Furlough deadline – 10 June 2020

Tomorrow, Wednesday 10 June 2020, is the latest date on which employees who have not previously been furloughed can be furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Employees must have been furloughed for a minimum of three weeks by 30 June 2020 as the scheme will close to new entrants from that date. It is important to note that, with effect from 1 July 2020, the number of employees an employer can claim for in any claim period cannot exceed the maximum number they have claimed for under any previous claim under the current scheme ie before 30 June 2020.
